When I started this blog I wanted to include posts on what to eat and what not to eat, instead of posting just recipes. I quickly learned that posting recipes is easy… but it’s an entirely different story trying to compose a post about how certain foods are going to either kill you or make you stronger. Who wants to read something preachy? Not me. I’m never preachy… bahahahahahaaaaaaa. I kill me.
I finally bit the bullet and posted three new pages; you can find them in the menu bar under “what to eat” and “what not to eat.” I’ll be adding more items to these lists but I wanted to point them out to you since they contain the basic food rules I live by, and I feel that we would all be so much healthier if we focused on real food and cut out toxins.
I also wanted to share a philosophy that I feel has served me well, especially in my recent journey towards optimal health. It’s the 80/20 principle, which says that 80% of the time you should follow healthy (in Pigforkr’s case, ancestral) food guidelines very closely, and 20% of the time you’re free to loosen up and just eat what you want to eat. If you aren’t in ideal health, those numbers might be a little closer to 90/10… but you get the idea.
There’s a lot more to life than food, and I believe (as did the ancient Chinese) that in some cases it’s better to eat the wrong food with the right attitude than the other way around. Go pizza and beer!
XO Andra
